Modern Farmhouse with Minimalist Landscape Vibes

This family with young children needed a simple landscape that would reflect their style and be easy to maintain. A limited plant and materials palette in a thoughtful layout provides plenty of space for everyone to enjoy without requiring much upkeep. Highlights include a Techo-bloc Blu80 driveway and walk, bocce court, and custom pergola.

Back Garden Fire Table Oasis

This stylish couple wanted a casual garden corner where they could have friends over to sit around the fire. That said, we still needed the space to relate to the tailored look of the home’s interior and raised deck entertainment area. A strong patio border of flagstone and Dwarf Mondo Grass gives enough structure to the casual gravel patio. A buried conduit for the propane gas line allows the tank to be hidden behind the seat wall, keeping the patio simple and open. (Photos by Julie Ciatti)

Back Garden Makeover for the Whole Family

This family had a nearly unusable back garden thanks to a large but diseased tree, an old brick patio with tree root upheaval, an advancing bamboo patch from the back neighbor, and a muddy play space. We started by installing a bamboo barrier, retaining wall, and fence to level the back slope, and then put in a new patio, arbor, shed, lawn, play set, and planting palette. The clients sourced their own furniture through Yardbird (quick shipping times- remember when you couldn’t get anything?!). (Photos by Julie Ciatti)

Mid-Century Modern Curb Appeal

This home’s exterior did not match the newly renovated modern interior. A simple renovation of rectilinear tiers in Corten and a linear concrete driveway complement the interior style and reflect the owner’s taste.

Making the Most of a Steep Back Garden

Isn’t this great? This home had a steep, shallow back garden with a patchy lawn area and no good place to play. We took advantage of the 2nd story deck to create a play area underneath. All we needed was a retaining wall to create a level area and we had a whole different space. New sod and trees for a little privacy and we’re ready to go!
